The ferry crossing from Vancouver to Victoria takes about 90 minutes. It leaves once an hour on the hour.
The coal export terminal, the largest in North America, is nearby. Coal, mined in southeast British Columbia and the northwestern United States, is exported to Asia. for various industrial purposes.
Mount Baker, some 60 miles distant, is easily visible from the ferry.
As usual, at this time of year, the weather  is perfect.
Killer whales swim with the ferries between the islands.
There are several ferry stops on different islands on the way to Victoria.
The ferry has to negotiate narrow straits among the islands.
The gulf islands are populated by retirees and vacationers.
Some homes are substantial.
